WFH is still the new normal for many of us. Although we may slowly phase back into the office, video calls and meetings will continue to serve us, especially as the technology landscape continues to shift, and employers open up their WFH policies.
We have to admit, though, that since we’ve started working from home, there have been way too many moments where we scrambled out of bed right before an important meeting. In this blog post, we are going to share our tips on how to how to look your best on work video calls, wide awake, ready, and completely pulled together. There are no rules to a video call look, but there are ways to make each day count and to feel and look your best! Scroll down and find out more…
Colorful tops
Remember that piece in your closet you were hoping to wear on your next outing? Now it is time to wear it. One thing a video call can pick up is colors and prints. Pick out your favorite blouse or that color blocking top and boost your mood while looking perfect.
Unique accessories
Keep in mind that a video chat is only from the waist up. As a result, your profile is everything. Choose large hoops, chic pearls, small studs, or short necklaces to complete your look. Slipping on a minimal but chic jewelry piece will instantly elevate your look from “rolled out of bed” to “I’m totally prepared to be here”. Here are some safe pieces you can style with many outfits:

Bonus tip: Try to wear lightweight pieces. You don’t really know how much time a meeting will last, right? ?
Invest in lips
Even if you are not in the mood for dressing… half the way up, just let your lips do the talking. Choose a plain top and pick up your favorite gloss. It doesn’t get any plain and cute right?
Bonus tip: Try applying your favorite lip gloss over your normal lipstick. This added layer of shine will not only visibly brighten your face but will also make you look an overachiever. We guarantee you that you will instantly feel, and not only look one, on a whim!
Get comfortable
Choose a place to sit that makes you feel comfortable for a long period of time. Much like being in a physical meeting, once you join a call, you shouldn’t be getting up and moving around. If you are using a laptop, have a charger plugged in and ready in case you need it. A water bottle and a cup of coffee or tea are also a must-have.
Improve your lighting
Last but not least, the lighting can make a huge difference in your video appearance. Sitting in front of a window and getting advantage of the natural light of the day is the best practice. If you have strong lighting behind you, or from the side, try to move your computer so you have more even light on your face. And if you can’t do that, use a desk lamp to fill in the light where the shadows are strongest.
We hope those tips make your video calls easier, make you look at your best, and boost your WFH mood. See you at the next post! ?
